Homestead treasures grown and crafted on the Pottery Highway
We are a homeschooling family of five who, after eight years of searching, finally found our dream home along the Pottery Highway in the heart of Robbins, North Carolina. Here, we have planted our roots with intention and gratitude, stewarding the land we now call home. Flowers have always been more than something beautiful to bring indoors—they are symbols of love, kindness, and remembrance, a way to reach across miles and touch a heart. For us, they are deeply tied to the generations who came before us and the family walking beside us today. As we grow, we invite you to journey with us—to slow down, to celebrate beauty, and to support a dream rooted in family, legacy, and connection.
For eight long years, we searched for a place to call home—somewhere with enough land to raise our children and grow our food, a place rich with history, and a place we could lovingly restore with our own hands. That search led us to two remarkable women whose family had stewarded this land for more than 130 years, and who graciously entrusted us with its care.
We moved in just before spring, and as neighbors stopped by to welcome us, they all spoke of the last caretaker of the home, Essie. They remembered her love for flowers, how she planted with intention so that something would always be in bloom, no matter the season. Before long, we saw it for ourselves—flowers emerging across the property as if to greet us, a living testament to the woman who had tended them so faithfully. Even now, we will wander a trail and stumble upon a stunning patch of blooms planted long ago, quiet reminders of a legacy still very much alive.
Flowers have always held deep meaning in our own family, too. One of my earliest memories is standing beside my grandmother in her garden as she taught me the names of each bloom, making me feel especially loved when she let me choose any flower from the garden center that I wished to put in her own garden among all of her other favorites.
Flowers connect us—to one another, to our past, and to the hope we carry forward. They bring light to dark places and beauty that endures beyond a lifetime. We chose the name Essie in honor of the woman who last carried the mantle of loving this land, and whose legacy of care, beauty, and devotion continues to guide everything we grow here.
